This is a bolt-on toy with special qualities! The re-recordable mirror is not just a fantastic parrot toy to entertain the small birds in your flock, it can also be used as a training aid. You can record whatever you like on to it (be it bird songs, whistles, or simply a phrase in your own voice - up to 10 seconds) and whenever your companion parrot alights on the perch the motion sensor will detect its presence and pour forth the recording. And you can change the recording as often as you like! It’s the perfect size for parakeets, lovebirds, finches, cockatiels, canaries, budgies and other similar sized birds. It comes with a mounting bracket that will fit any size cage and has a small seed cup and a 1cm in diameter perch that you can attach as well! (You are able to attach the mirror by itself above a natural wood perch already in the cage too.) The mirror mate’s motion sensor automatically turns off at night to ensure a quiet sleep for your little companion.

This parrot toy requires 3 AAA batteries (not included).

Parrot Training Advice:

All birds that can learn to talk respond much faster to interesting sounds coming from interesting things. The re-recordable mirror acts as a great training device not only because it’s a mirror that your bird will enjoy looking into but because it is activated by your bird rather than set on a random playing period. (Anything is responded to more favourably if it’s been actively sought.) When recording your voice on to this device, use a phrase that you’ve already been using in person, and say it with lots of animation. And remember: NOTHING will ever be more effective for training your parrot than lots of one-on interaction.

Please also be aware that some birds like mirrors too much. If you’ve never placed a mirror in your bird’s cage before, we suggest you try a cheapie to make certain your bird does not become obsessed with its image, before investing in this product.
