We have found that birds on the Bird & Pet range of pellets eat Vetafarm just as readily. If you have previously bought Bird & Pet pellets from us and your bird refuses to eat the Vetafarm pellets, you are welcome to return the product for a full refund, including postage.

Breeding birds require extra nutrition to enable them to lay fertile eggs and rear healthy chicks. Parrot Breeder Pellets contain extra protein, vitamins and minerals to support reproduction.

Although Parrot Breeder Pellets contain all the nutrition necessary to be fed as a complete diet it is recommended that the birds be given access to fruit, vegetables and native vegetation as environmental enrichment.

By using a balanced diet your birds become healthier and so capable of sustained breeding.

Feeding Instructions
Parrot Breeder Pellets should be made available to breeding parrots from approximately 6 weeks before breeding season until weaning of the chicks is completed.

Chicks in the nest will be fed the fortified diet by their parents, this means they will have all the nutrition necessary for strong healthy development.
Chicks reared on Parrot Breeder Pellets will readily consume Vetafarm Maintenance Pellets after weaning.

Please ensure the birds are consuming sufficient amounts with continual vigilance. Water consumption will increase with a pelleted diet. Serve a little more then your bird will consume over the course of the day in a clean dry bowl separate to other foods. The pellets not consumed will not spoil and may be used the following day unless dampened or defecated on.
