Important note about My Parrot hanging toys

Many of the My Parrot hanging toys are sold without a quick link to attach it to the cage - this allows old ones to be re-used helping to reduce waste and cost. You can purchase stainless steel quick links individually from us in three different sizes. When choosing the quick link for your toy, consider the width of the bars you will attach them to and your bird’s propensity to chew. All quick links can be attached to any hanging toy we make.

Bird size recommendations

At the bottom of each product description we recommended whether the toy is suitable for small, medium or large birds. Our decisions are based on safety and destructibility. When toys are recommended for more than one size of bird the larger bird should be expected to destroy the toy faster. Recycling toy parts

We’re a practical bunch over on this side of the globe, and when we can make it ourselves we probably will. For that reason, at My Parrot Shop, we’ve tried whenever possible to help you re-use old toy parts without too much hassle.

We keep our hanging lengths short, to help guard against a bird flipping it round its neck during boisterous play, but also because it’s cheaper and less wasteful that way. A toy can easily have its length extended with a re-usable toy-extender.

When we can, on the longer lengths of chain for the bigger toys, we’ve put an O-ring on only one end of it. When the toy has seen its last day, you may just need to flip it over and thread things on the end (the O ring as the base means that the beads won’t slip off), attaching the quick link through the chain.

We sell a wide range of toy parts, and sometimes refill packs for a specific toy, making it easy for you to bring an old toy back to life or to make your own.

Packaging

For our first year we packaged all our items individually, mainly using cellobags which are made from plant cellulose, fully biodegradable. We did this to keep the toys clean and allow for returns that we could resell. After a year and with things getting a bit busier this has become impractical, and having only received one return so far we have decided that it will be far better to absorb the cost of future returns. We have implemented other strategies now in our stock rooms for the clean and hygenic storage of our products. Please contact us if you would like further information regarding our methods.

Our toy parts will still be packaged in the cellobags, and sometimes foot toys as well. If you bury a cellobag in your garden it should disappear within 30 – 60 days. Faster if its gets treated to the compost heap.

Whenever possible, for shipping our packaging materials consist of packaging & boxes we’ve received and recycled. Any environmentally un-friendly packaging you receive is guaranteed to simply be on another leg of its journey. Our packing tape is Sellotape which is like our cellobags; made from cellulose and biodegradable.

Product Colour Options

Most products sold on our website come in a variety of colour combinations. These different colour combinations are not always shown in the photographs.

If you have a specific colour request please make it during the check out process. We will contact you by email or phone if it is not possible and further discussion of your order is required.

In any products that we have dyed ourselves (Brand: My Parrot), we can also supply them without the dye. Simply make the request during checkout. Please allow there may be a delay in shipping times in this case.
